Earrings
In the Begining
I love unique jewelry and have a hard time finding it. I tend to like accessories that are bold and quirky in style, but not too over the top. In my hunt for unique pieces I find that jewelry is really pricey. Gleaming over a pair of beautifully put together, dangling earrings I was once again frustrated to find that they were way out of my price range. After I stared at them a while I thought, “You know? I bet I could make these for half the price!” It was settled and I was off to Joanne Fabrics. Spending more money than the dangling pair of earrings would have cost me, I walked out with supplies to create earrings of my own. Little did I know that I had found a hobby that would keep me entrained through the darkness of the long Alaskan winters. As I started giving them away as gifts and people began to notice them I began to get request. The rest is history.
Some trash is meant to be worn.
Most of the jewelry I make is from recycled materials. Some are vintage pieces I have collected and torn apart to create something fresh and new, others are trinkets like bottle caps and buttons, some beads are made from recycled paper, and some are a concoction of thrift store finds and discarded or broken pieces. I am always on the hunt for something unique. Typically each pair I make is unique, however, if you see something on here that you really like Let me know. I may have the materials to create it once again!
